What a nice venue!  We were glad to be a part of their Grand Opening & can see lots of 'funmazing' events on the horizon.  The 'face' of choice was 'Kirby' - What's a Kirby you ask?  I asked the same question - I have a 7 year old boy.  I thought I was up on all the kid stuff out there but 'Kirby' had me lost.  Luckily for everyone there was a Superdad there (ie: he saved the day) who looked up pictures on his smart phone.  Apperantly, there are many kinds of 'Kirbys' - good ones, bad ones, flaming ones, icy ones & an assortment that have pre-cursors to their names that sound very imposing such as 'meta' & 'omni'.  I was almost intimidated.  But bravely working from a 3 inch by 3 inch artists concept of the popular & revered 'ice kirby' I plunged in & managed to pull off a respectable rendition, replete with sparkles on Kirby's faceted icy planes.  The child was delighted.  I leaned back & breathed a sigh of relief...then the next one wanted 'Meta-Knight Kirby'.  You can see how this is going...
So I painted under the caring guidance of the 7 year old boys who were carefully polite but insistant that the Kirby faces had 'glowy' eyes & even offered suggestions as to how I could make that happen for them.  And they did this without the dogged slavery to the commercial one might expect from their subject choice.  Actually, they were quite creative & observant of my medium.  They were a pleasure to talk to & I hope they can keep that creativity as they grow. :)
